Micro Switch Technical Description

Micro Switch Technical Description

1. Operating Principle

   - External force acts on the actuating element (plunger/button/lever/roller), causing the spring blade to move.

   - When the displacement reaches the critical point, the moving contact instantly makes or breaks with the fixed contact, completing the circuit switching.

   - After the external force is removed, the spring blade returns, and upon reaching the critical point again, the switch resets instantly.

   - Features small contact gap, short travel, low actuation force, fast response, and the switching speed of the moving contact is independent of the actuation speed.

2. Special Type: Tilt-Triggered “Roller Ball Switch”

   - Resembles a resistor in appearance, contains a roller ball or spring inside, which instantly connects the two pins when tilted or vibrated.

   - Commonly used in tilt detection, vibration triggering, and similar scenarios.

3. Forced-Guard Micro Switch

   - Even if the spring blade fails (e.g., welded or stuck), external force can mechanically force the switch to open, improving safety.

4. Classification Summary

   - By Size: Standard, Small (approx. 27.8×10.3×15.9mm), Subminiature (approx. 19.8×6.4×10.2mm), Ultra-Subminiature (approx. 12.8×5.8×6.5mm, ultra-thin type available)

   - By Protection: Waterproof, Dustproof, Explosion-proof

   - By Circuit Form: Single-pole, Double-pole, Multiple-pole

   - By Breaking Capacity: Standard, DC type, Micro-current type, High-current type

   - By Temperature Resistance: Standard (up to ~120°C), High-temperature type (250°C), Ultra-high-temperature ceramic type (400°C)

   - By Structure: Basic type (without auxiliary actuator) plus derived types with button, roller, lever, short hinge, long hinge, etc.

   - By Function: Waterproof type, etc.

5. Typical Applications

   - Mouse button (most typical), household appliances, industrial equipment, automotive electronics, security alarms, etc.
